Who We Are
Rhys CoombsRhys is a Chartered Civil Engineer, hydraulics and hydrological modelling specialist, and data scientist. Rhys has worked within the Dams and Reservoir industry (both UK and Global) for a number of years and previously fulfilled a lead modelling position with the Dams and Hydropower team at MWH (now Stantec). Rhys led research and cutting edge development in the following fields: computational fluid dynamics for large hydraulic structures, surface water modelling for dam break analyses, detailed stochastic loss modelling and fatality consequences assessments, flood analyses and hydrological yield assessments.
Rhys is an expert user of ArcGIS (inc. ModelBuilder and Spatial Analyst), Python, Flow3D, the Mike by DHI suite (including the Source Developer Kit for automation in a Python environment) and Flood Modeller. He is an experienced analyst and has contributed to the development of the Floods and Reservoir Safety [4th Edition] guidance and bespoke applications the Risk Assessment for Reservoir Safety Management guidance for large UK Water PLCs. Rhys has worked on water orientated schemes located in the UK, Australia, Mozambique, Ethiopia, Kenya, Indonesia, Turkey, Seychelles and the United States of America. Rhys is a Chartered Engineer and Member of the Institution of Engineering and Technology. He is currently working towards his application for appointment to the Reservoirs Supervising Engineer Panel. Rhys recently won the prestigious "Emerging Professional of the Year" award at the 2018 ACE Consultancy and Engineering Awards. |
Mark CrammanMark has over 14 years of experience with 1D, 2D and 3D river modelling, flood risk and drainage impact assessment, sediment transport modelling, coastal, surge analysis and network optimisation projects.
Mark has built and calibrated many 1D and 2D river/floodplain models for Flood Risk Assessments and optioneering / option appraisal. He is experienced in using MIKE Zero, Flexible Mesh (FM) and Sediment Transport (ST) to investigating the effects of sediment deposition and erosion. These models have been used for option assessment including investigating the effects of sediment deposition and erosion in a variety of scenarios. Mark has in-depth experience in flood risk sustainable drainage using guidance and policies including PPS25, CIRIA and NPPF. He has experience and in-depth knowledge of distribution water networks and experience of carrying out site specific demand analysis for single sites, catchments and full district meter areas. In addition, Mark has a wide ranging knowledge of GIS in an array of environmental applications including risk mapping, environmental assessments, constraints mapping, flood risk assessments and water resource studies. He often produces large quantities of presentation quality maps in short timescales, tailored for a range of end users and clients in both ArcGIS and MapInfo. Mark is a Member of the Institution of Engineering and Technology. |
